Love this shabby,chic hotel. Big old rooms,white tiles in the bathrooms and faded red and gold carpets. For nz it's old world and fun. Very clean, good service,great italian just downstairs or room service from them if you'd rather. The rooms on the street sides are best if you don't mind a bit of city road noise as they have big windows which let in the sun and even open for real air.we love staying there.please don't change it to a boring modern hotel like all the others in nz if it sells!.

Very impressed with staff- very helpful and friendly. Location of hotel was great, very handy to shops etc. Room- was a good size and bed was very comfortable. Only issue was bath tub was very high off the floor. Hard for pregnant guests to get in and out from. But overall great stay.

Rooms are very tired, very cold during the night and only a small oil heater to heat the big room. our room had a plastic bag containing the previous guests dirty socks and underwear which had not been removed. all in all prob wouldnt stay here again.

Simply the best hotel, rooms that are so grand and huge. would not stay any where else. hope it does sell and carries on as is!!!

Hotel is rather old and a bit tired, but rooms are large and very very clean. Staff were friendly upon arrival and the free news paper and up to date magazines are always a nice touch. No problem with a late checkout. Very central location and we had no problem with noise with a very comfortable sleep.

Nice hotel, lovely bathroom. However we could smell smokers smoke coming in our window from the balcony which wasn't pleasant. Also the room was too hot & we couldn't work the termostat. We also found the pillows to be too large & therefore uncomfortable. However, the staff were friendly enough & the location of the hotel was good; central.

We had a really awesome weekend in Hamilton for the Super Cross 21Nov. Was most impressed with our stay at Le Grand. It was central to everything we wanted to do. Happy with all the meals we had there, staff were great, very friendly & courteous. Parking there at the back was very handy. Loved the nite life in Hood St & Victoria St was a buzz all nite, great fun. Didnt have a problem with any noise in our room, as we were towards the back. Lovely furnishings, very posh. Would recommend this place and visit again. Cheers
