Welcome to Highgate
Highgate is ideally situated for visitors travelling from Auckland to the South and wanting to see some of NZ `tourist' attractions, around the Waikato, such as the famous Rotorua hot springs and mud pools, Cambridge (famous for great thoroughbred horse breeding), the very successful Mangatautari Native Bird Sanctuary, Karapiro Lake with all it's water sports, Waitomo Caves and the glowworms etc..
Our home is a masonary house set in 2 acres of interesting garden surrounded by farmland and with a wonderful view of Mt. Pirongia.
The house is cool in the hot summer months and warm in the cold winter time.
The Pirongia Village district is home to many art and crafts people as well as an area steeped in history. For the more active person, Mt Pirongia is a 17,000 hectare native reserve with numerous tramping tracks.
There are plenty of courses within a 40 minute drive should you want to play golf whilst here.
It is only 20 mins. to Hamilton Airport, 20 mins. to Hamilton City, 20 mins. to Mystery Creek Events Centre and less than 2 hrs. drive south of Auckland Airport.
Highgate is the place to BandB - no noise (except from the birds), no pollution and easy day trips to many interesting places.
The above is still applicable, of course, should you be travelling from the South to the sunny North!

Enjoyed our stay and the beautiful surrounding farmlands and hills! Great view from our bedroom windows! Jan and Peter were friendly and helpful. Just a tip: Please clean patio chairs before guests arrive. We loved sitting out in the gardens that are all around the house! Clean rooms and great breakfast.

It was a wonderful experience staying in Jan's BnB, she's very friendly and generous, unlike some of the other hosts, she is open-minded and talkative. I know that all of my family enjoyed our stay there.

Just spent the night at highgate. Lovely surroundings and a beautiful home. Made to feel very welcome and the hospitality was wonderful. Breakfast was great and the homemade jams a real treat. Would certainly recommend to friends. .

Lovely surrounds in a lovely part of the world. Comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Overall rating reduced because of lingering smell of cigarette smoke.

Oh Dear !! Thank you for the positive comments but I am aghast that our home appears to have `lingering cig. smoke'! Peter smokes in his office, which is not the main entrance to the house and I accept responsibility for your entering and leaving via the office. He does smoke while watching TV in the evening; however, when we have guests, he does not smoke anywhere but outside or in his office Our house is 10yrs old and there has never been a cigarette lit in any other area of the house and it is a big house. Of our many guests (some are repeat visitors)you are the first to have a complaint so please accept my apologies for causing you discomfort. On a positive note - I took pleasure with hearing my piano played by someone other than myself, that was neat. Jan

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were very warm and friendly and we were made to feel as though we were right at home. It was lovely and quiet and we would stay there again.

Jan and Peter made us feel very welcome on our first night in New Zealand. Their beautiful home is not too far from Auckland but is peaceful and everything you could want in a B&B.

The stay was fantastic! The hosts were exceptional and everything was catered for. The house and gardens were gorgeous. Would totally reccomend this place to anybody heading in that general direction.
