  • In april we arrived from guam cairns gold coast to a cold 1 degree day. Really worried the lovely old house would not insulate us but with electric blankets ( i thought those were extinct) woke next morning pleasantly surprised and toasty. The boys 2 and 5 started shedding layers of clothes and 2 days later were toe deep in sheep poo. The wife was horrified but they loved it. I am more familiar with coromandel farm life but safe to say farms from north to south nz are pretty much the same. Old with character, some things work great and some like a slow shower you improvise and settle for long hot bath instead. Best part is there is always another adventure around the corner. . 5

  • We had a great stay at cavelands as always. It was just a shame lindsay had to work this time and could not come. He missed out on a lot of fun. I took the kids to the masterton pool with it's outside pools everyday as it is only 12 minutes away . Will be back soon as a great relaxing place to stay. Cheers. 5

  • Lovely relaxing weekend at the farmstay. The kids loved it and got to meet the new piglets which arrived on our second day there. They especially enjoyed feeding the animals and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Would definitely visit again. 5

  • We stayed at cavelands for our 7th visit 3rd with my 2 girls. They just love feeding the animals and collecting the eggs :) shona was even kind enough to give us some of their damson plums (excuse spelling) and we made 12 bottles of spicy plum sauce so when we return next month for the harvest festival we will be bringing a sample bottle for shona & bill lol it is always relaxing and with the kids in tow we went to masterton (only 10km away) to aquatic centre 2 days and they loved that. Great we even survived the big quake on 20/1/14 without a hint of a problem. Cheers . 5
