The 3 Star Plus CQ Comfort Hotel, formerly known as the ‘People's Palace' or ‘Trekkers' provides the CQ complex with its character and charm. Listed with the Historic Places Trust, it holds a prestigious place in the history of Wellington. The CQ Comfort Hotel provides guests with a cost effective and comfortable stay.
In 2004 the hotel was completely refurbished and restored to its original Edwardian grace.
In 2011 the rooms were softly refurbished with modern furnishings.
Ideally located in the vibrant heart of Wellington – the Cuba Street which is famous for the Bucket Fountain, at the doorstep is a melting pot of cafes, restaurants, art galleries and colourful collection of hidden boutique shops. The complex is within easy walking distance to the CBD and Wellington's tourist attractions.
In the middle of the two hotels is the state-of-the-art CQ CONFERENCE & FUNCTIONS CENTRE. The Cuba Rooms provide a highly adaptable 266 Square meter space that can hold up to 200 or be divided into 5 flexible rooms. Hire the space to tailor made to suit your requirements. The Cuba rooms are flooded with natural light, air conditioned, striking exposed brickwork and a fusion of character and contemporary features. Whether it's a board meeting for 20 people in the stylish Boardroom, you're AGM or a glitzy dinner function, CQ is the venue to make a statement and create that WOW factor.
PARKING: We have limited onsite car parking for a charge of $25 per night. This is on a first in first served basis. If this is unavailable parking is available nearby (2 min walk) at an extra cost. It is off-street and undercover. Parking coupons can be collected from reception and we can direct you from the hotel to the car parking.

Clean cosy room. Excellent location and easy walking distance to massey university for block course. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was small but tidy and the bathroom was clean. Staff were generally attentive but seemed flustered when trying to work out my last minute booking. Good price though so would stay again. The breakfast was great.

Surprised that the room did not have a fridge; however i did not really need it, so no problem. Smallish room but nice and modern and excellent bathroom. Woken by some banging at 6.30 am, but i had a wake up call for 7 am so not a major problem. Overall rating an 8 out of 10.

Was ok. I could have chosen a better room, was in a rush and the didn't check carefully so my bad. Was a clean room but unbearably hot with no fan and the windows were very hard to open/close. Unfortunately the hand basin drain was pretty blocked up as well, so that's my thumbs down. I didn't mentioned as at checkout their computer system crashed and the staff look flustered enough. .

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I have taken careful note of your comment in regard to the temperature in your room during your stay with us; as you know your visit to Wellington coincided with the extreme and exceptional heat wave in New Zealand. It was probably one of the hottest summers of the last 20-25 years. It has been a challenge for many people, including our staff trying to help and assist all our guests as much as they were able to do so. For this reason, I have forwarded your comments to our reservation department asking them to update your profile on our system with a special note reminding you if you wish to book a room in the Quality Hotel with air conditioning for any future stay with us. I was very disappointed to read that the basin drain was blocked. We strive to ensure that all rooms and bathrooms are checked prior to our guest’s arrival as a quality control measure and in this instance it seems not to have been the case. I have forwarded your comment to our maintenance department for their action and reminding them and the Housekeeping department to be more vigilant in quality management to minimise the risk of this reoccurring in the future. I arrived here on a secret hotel deal and got a great uncover secure carpark.i was too late for lunch and had room service. The pumpkin soup was small but nice but didn't come with a bread roll disappointing.the lamb with salad was fatty and not fit for room service quality. The pork dish was nice but lacked enough greens with it. When i checked in i left my laptop and a gag to be stored in lockup but they didnt put bags away first and left them their while serving others. I took my laptop with me because of this and i had to go to a movie.their doesn't seem to be any double glazing windows as i could hear people shouting cars revering and a iron gate banging unsecured all night. It was a very windy wellington day that day and when i went to breakfast the chef left a window open which also banged away. Luckily the front house lady shut it.breakfast was the highlight with a good range,although some condiments weren't labeled. Staff were friendly but they front desk was in overload.

Tho small, we found the room to be very comfy and very clean. The street noise was quite audible on the 3rd floor & the curtains too short to block out all the street lights. But for its great location this is expected and didn't greatly affect our sleep. The staff were fantastic & the breakfast amazing. Would happily return for another stay. Best value stay ever. .

Like others, the room was surprisingly small. The neighbouring room had their bathroom backing onto my headboard, so could hear them tinkling at 4am when they got up! did not get any street noise, but it was mid-week. The room was clean and the staff excellent and helpful. Breakfast was delish! wish i could have just stayed and pigged out on that! but not a healthy choice. :).

Very clean, efficent checkin , rooms small but value for money, recommended breakfast and again value for money, and convenient location. Staff excellent and friendly. Moved us to another room for 2nd night as bed was too soft for our preference.
