  • Enjoyed the stay there, just one thing no utensils only teaspoons to make a cuppa, and no microwave if i needed to heat up food for baby, but other than that enjoyed, would of loved a mention from someone bout the elevator to town as we walked right round until we came across it while walkin up town lol but no troubles we know for next time, does all other hotels provide free wifi? would be lovely if this hotel did too. 5

  • This is my second stay here. I had the summer festival buffet dinner which was better than the christmas buffet one i had last time.i also had a high tea this time which was ok but lacked more savouries. The boy serving me was very polite and knowledgeable with the high tea.when i booked in i went to go to the bar that should of being opened but wasn't.so reception got whitby's to make the pizza and wedges for me.the minibar is well stocked.this is twice i have received a terrace with no view room on a jimmy's grab a deal.the deals good with free valet parking, but if you want return guests you should give them a selection off the rooms.otherwise its not a run of house room.i was their to watch the last t20 cricket match and they tv was really nice in size.one thing to watch out for when dining they have lots of groups dinning in.so get your meal finished before 7pm.i noticed on monday morning they had a school group with a cooked breakfast, which was really rowdy for that time. . 5

  • Our stay was great! good breakfast, good size room and good location. The staff was not friendly nor helpful, provided us wrong information and wrong direction when we checked-in in the afternoon; but the staff was great in the morning when we checked-out. . 5

  • Not overly impressed and won’t be rushing to go back there anytime soon. Food at restaurant (whitby’s) wasn’t great at all, very bland and plain tasting, especially at $45 per adult (because we stayed until after 7:00pm we missed the early bird rate)! then room air-con didn’t work, it was 27oc at 9pm at night in the room, even though the air-con had been going since we got there at 4pm. Not good with 2 kids. They finally moved us to another room, at 10pm, the same night which was much cooler at 20oc except the air-con in this room was very noisy. At least we were cool in this room. On a positive note all the staff were very helpful and friendly though and the location is very good. 5

  • We had a fantastic stay at the james cook. Room was clean, tidy and spacious. Was greeted by professional staff who took pride in what they did and ensured i knew what i was entitled to. Breakfast was a pleasant experience with a wide variety of choices. . 5

  • This is my first time at the james cook i never used the lift to lambton quay as i took taxis everywhere.i booked and had a pre christmas lunch which was very average.i have had better meals at 3 star plus hotels.the potatoes were bland and the ham was no as tasty as i would of liked. The deserts in the buffet were nice but i wish you could of provided fresh un whipped cream.the bodyhaven massage was great value for one hour and i liked the sweet tea.i went to the mousetrap at the st james theatre and ordered room service.the james burger with fries and salad is massive and i ordered a toasted sandwich with fries and a ice cream trio. The room service meal was pleasant as was the icecream with a nice touch of shell brandy snaps. Wifi for 24 hours was great value i think they gave me 2gb for 24hours which i never used up.the restaurant offers great view of the city, but the outside of the windows looks very dated.i had a terrace room and asked for one bed in the room and got 2. 5

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the james cook. Room was very clean and tidy. Included was free drinks and canapes on 26th floor with wonderful views. Breakfast was great too. I would rate this as an excellent hotel. 5

  • Wifi $12.00 is unacceptable. In the modern world this should be part of the room price. I requehsted a view and got a sea glimpse. Probably would not stay here again. Windows to sea glimpse very dirty. 1
