The bed was very comfortable and room was clean but very dated - in fairness it was not an expensive room. The selection of tv channels was limited so we visited the local movie theatre and was pleasantly surprised at how modern it was. Sadly, we were woken at 7.30 by the cleaning staff beginning their morning duties. For cheap accomodation this 'footed the bill'.

The room was their "el cheepo" one so we did not expect much... Which is what we got - it was very basic. It was musty from dampness. I haven't stayed in a room which smells like that for over 20 years. But the staff were very friendly and obliging and the location near the centre of town was excellent. As we paid on travelbug when we booked the room we only had a bill of about $23 to pay on booking out for some drinks and food. They wanted a $4 fee for us to pay on credit card. Some places charge 1% which would have made it 23cents. $4 which is 17% is outrageous. The management need to look at this.

Very pleased with our stay , awesome staff, friendly and accomodating. Great location and our room was fine, lovely new bathroom. Lighting was quite dim in the room tho, but would reccomend this hotel. Nice to get free desserts if we had a main meal in the evening.

STAFF A+ !!! Really impressed with the staff and very accomodating when we had to have a unplanned late check out. Bathroom was a bit dated and could do with a re-fit but overall the staff and location made up for it.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Kingsgate in Greymouth, and would not stay there again. Our room had a too-small double bed (I had forgotten this size even existed!) that was spongey. The room came off an atrium that overheated and radiated the heat into our room leaving it unbearably hot over night. As this part of the hotel was only two levels, there didn't appear to be an elevator, so we were woken from our fitful sleep by people clomping down the stairs carrying their luggage in the early morning. The bathroom was clean but severely dated, with a shower mixer than went from freezing to scalding with the slightest touch.
