Chestnut Ridge Farmstay B&B

40 Moorfield Road Te Kauwhata

Wifi Internet Access Non Smoking Carpark access

A quiet piece of rural New Zealand, Chestnut Ridge Farmstay B&B has large gardens and, being on a ridge, has extensive views over the gardens, orchard, farmland, Whangamarino Wetlands, Lake Waikare, surrounding hills and Te Kauwhata village.

Our 6 ha farm/orchard has around 350 mature chestnut trees and we run ewes and lambs, a few steers and chickens. Guests are welcome to wander around our property. Pick your own chestnuts are generally available between mid-March and the end of April.

The accommodation is flexible:

The Super-King room can either have a massive super-king bed or two king-single beds. This room has an en suite including a spa bath with shower over. TV, radio and tea/coffee making facilities are also included.

The Queen room has a queen bed. It too now has it's own en suite (with a shower but not spa bath). The room has TV, radio and a small desk and library of interesting books.

Both Super-King and Queen rooms each have a comfortable single trundle bed and exterior doors so that you can come and go as you please. Garage parking is available adjacent to the Super-King room and off-street parking adjacent to the Queen room.

Guests will need to specify sleeping arrangement required under the 'Special Requests' on the booking page.

Continental breakfast is included in the tariff and can be upgraded to a full cooked breakfast for a small extra cost.

A four course dinner (nibbles and a drink before, entrée, main course with a glass of wine, dessert and tea/coffee) is available for an extra charge if notified in advance. Special dietary need catered for where possible. Guests will need to specify any particular dietary requirements under the 'Special Requests' on the booking page.

Children are welcome but not suitable for pets.

Close by are Te Kauwhata village, Rangiriri historic site, Whangamarino Wetlands, Lake Waikare, Waikare golf course, Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, Showfields and Richfields Equestrian Centres and a greenstone factory/shop. Miranda Bird Sanctuary and Hot Pools are only 40 minutes drive east, as are Nikau Caves to the west and Zelong Tea Gardens and Woodlands Estate to the south. Day trips to the beautiful Coromandel peninsular (some of New Zealand's finest costal scenery & beaches, in our opinion), start with Thames only an hour drive to the east.

Our home is a smoke-free environment but there are covered, sheltered outdoor areas for those who wish to smoke.

BEING ONLY 45 MIN DRIVE SOUTH OF AUCKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, WE ARE AN IDEAL FIRST OR LAST STOP FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS.

We found a super friendly couple at this B&B. They couldn't do enough for us. The super king bed was fabulous to sleep in. The setting was extremely tranquil. Definitely recommend.

This farmstay is a wonderful way to experience a New Zealand farm that is close to both the main road and the airport. The hosts are so welcoming and interested in their guests; the breakfast was wonderful and the coffee very good. We stayed in both rooms and can only highly recommend this farm.
