  • Judy and John are so warm and welcoming! The rooms are very comfortable and cozy, the views are spectacular, and breakfast was full of homemade goodies. I also went for a swim in the sound just down the hill from the house. Judy and John gave good recommendations over email in advance of the trip and while I was staying with them. They made me feel like it was my home as well. 5

  • Judy and John provide an excellent and most friendly stop-over at the head of the Pelorus Sound. The great weather helped. This could suit people travelling between Nelson and Blenheim on highway 1, as it is just 15 minutes from Havelock. Equally, as for us, it was a stopover prior to driving the Queen Charlotte Drive through to Picton. All expectations were met 5

  • We just spent 4 nights here, 9 - 12 March 2018. We were lucky to have had beautiful fine days and nights. We were greeted by Judy and shown our room. The room had double bed and bay window that had mattress and pillows. This bay window was nice place to relax and enjoy the views. We were later greeted by John. Judy and John were perfect hosts and we enjoyed our conversations with them. They both made us relaxed in their home. Area is very quiet and dark, and we had perfect uninterrupted sleep all four nights. We are light eaters and the cereal and fresh fruit were very nice breakfast. Nice coffee too. The room and bathroom were very clean and towels were changed daily. We would recommend Journeys End B&B if you are staying in this area and want relaxation, beautiful views, and more. 5

  • Relaxing time on shoreline deck, birdwatching from the lovely garden, very quiet and comfortable, suited me very well as a sole traveller. Upstairs area not totally private but hosts unobtrusive, very pleasant and quiet so no problem. they only take one booking at a time, even if sole person, so no shared bathroom issues. 4

  • John and Judy are delightful hosts, and spared no effort for our comfort in their snug house, literally nestled into the side of a hill overlooking the sound, surrounded by plant and bird life. While the guest quarters are in an upstairs loft, the hillside provided an outside path to a private door upstairs. We had mutual friends who put us in touch, and in NZ watching American politics is like theater, so our conversations were long and lively. They ask what you like for breakfast, but you wake up to the smell of freshly-baked bread, homemade plum preserves, homemade muesli, local honey, and more. 5

  • Comfortable bedrooms with shared bathroom. Would have liked somewhere comfortable to sit, where we didn't feel like we were the audience to the family watching tv below. Also needed a larger breakfast table. 3
JOHN WITHEROW - Feb 2, 2013 (Stayed Jan 2013) Travelbug verified review
  • We only host one family group/party at a time, hence the bathroom was 'shared' by this family group who have sole use of all their facilities and which are quite separate from ours as hosts. We apologise for the TV indiscretion. However, on arrival, guests are made welcome to join us downstairs in our lounge at any time should they prefer it. Point noted regarding size of breakfast tables - both inside and out on the patio. This is being remedied.
