This building was formerly Sunkist Backpackers, however we are now a bed and breakfast.
The traditional kauri building was built in the 1860's and was one of the original hotels in the area and serviced the many miners who swarmed to the area during the goldrush days. e offer heritage accommodation with well appointed rooms in a quiet location close to the waterfront of Thames. It was the Lady Bowen Hotel for almost a century until the publican took his license (and the name) to a nearby hotel. The area is rich in history and photos of this by-gone era are displayed throughout the building.
The main shopping area with bars, cafes and eateries is an easy five minute walk away as is the famous Thames Saturday Market.
When not out exploring the history of the town, enjoying the local cafes and bars, or exploring all that the Coromandel has to offer you can relax in your own high ceiling private room and enjoy our guest lounge, garden or balcony.
Tea, coffee and continental breakfast are included.
We are the perfect base to explore the many walking and cycling trails and tracks on our doorstep.
Nearby is the Kauaeranga Valley, Hauraki Rail Trail, and of course, the many stunning beaches in the Coromandel area.
