‘The Two Chimneys' is situated in Hawkes Bay on the rural outskirts of Havelock North and Hastings. Our property is situated on 8 acres and with our ponies, dog, cats, chickens and pigs we are often referred to as "the good life." The extensive grounds have an orchard, olive trees, paddock and charming gardens. We have two guest rooms which are part of the house but they have their own ground floor entrance and private outdoor area to relax and enjoy privacy. The original part of the house was designed by local Award Winning architect Simon Clarkson and was the Hawkes Bay House of The Year and National Finalist 1999. The house has always been complimented on its two huge chimneys which service the open fire and wood burning stove. Being from Scotland, the sight of smoke swirling out the chimney evokes memories of coming home to the welcoming fire and evenings spent enjoying friendship with the smell of wood, peat and fine malt whiskey. The beautiful Hawkes Bay climate means limited use for the fire but we endeavour to provide a warm welcome to our guests. We have aptly adapted our palate to the acclaimed local wines from the surrounding area and enjoy evenings unwinding with a glass in the garden.
There is always plenty of tea and ground coffee and you may just be spoiled with homemade scones. You can enjoy as much privacy as you like as your room is self-contained but you will always find someone around in the garden, in the paddock or feeding the chooks.
Breakfast arrangements are a continental basket delivered to your door, served on the patio or if preferred, supplies provided in your room. Your room is serviced daily. Being mindful of the environment, we routinely dry your towels but can replace them if preferred.
The stable door room, which was completed in November 2013, offers a private entrance into a spacious self- contained room with high stud paneled ceiling. To ensure comfort, there is air-conditioning and heating which you can control to suit your needs. The Queen bed has a thick luxury mattress and beautiful fresh cotton bedding. French doors lead out onto a private patio area where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view down the Tuscan inspired garden. There is a two-seat sofa where you can enjoy your in-room Sky TV or you can sit at the desk and catch up on business or write postcards. The en-suit features a stunning double shower and double basin. The bespoke kitchen unit with granit top allows you freedom to make tea or coffee. There is a microwave and the small fridge has a daily supply of fresh milk.
