  • Due to a storm that blew in, I ended up turning back 24 hours after departure! So most of my plans and bookings went awry, but nevertheless, I met only with kind and considerate people, who did everything they could to ensure I had a positive experience regardless! Bike hire, backpackers lodge, information office staff, ferry staff, shuttle driver and Wai Central station, who lent me a torch and a roll of tape, to secure a light on my bike, all were fantastic!! Thank you, I will be back in New Zealand sometime soon!! 5

  • Appreciated free shuttle from late ferry. Clean room, all expectations met. Delicious complimentary hot scones for breakfast. Town close and mostly downhill, easy even for an oldie. The neighbours were VERY quiet ;-) 5

  • I wasn't impressed with the town itself, but Tombstone with Gary and Nikki is definitely worth the trip to Picton! They've managed assemble a great crew, too. The en-suite was in fact perfect. Highest marks, top recommendation! 5

  • I stayed at the backpackers for one night. It was lovely and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and equipment. There was plenty of places to sit and relax and the outdoor spaces were sheltered. The location was close to the ferry terminals and only a short walk into town. I have stayed in many backpackers in nz and overseas; tombstone is certainly up there with the best. 5

  • As a couple of over 65, we discovered that it is possible to be very comfortable in a Backpackers Inn. Lynn and Gordon are very friendly, kitchen was impeccable, the evening was so agreable as a young French pianist played a few plays while we played cards. We booked 2 more backpackers place on the way. 5
