Aroha Island offers beachside and bush camping, 2 bush cottages and a 3 bedroom Lodge, within a 12 hectare Nature and Bird wildlife.

A unique eco experience awaits you at our secluded, peaceful and tranquil island.

The campsite is sheltered and close to the native bush, home to our resident North Island Brown Kiwi. Explore the island on our discovery trail, or the coastline in our kayaks (hire around high tide), or, simply enjoy the leisurely pace of island life.

We have a mix of powered (10 sites in the top bush campground) and non powered sites.
Free wifi outside our visitor centre.
BBq's, gas cookers, kitchen facilities, fridge/freezer. (You need to bring your own crockery, cutlery, pots etc.
Hot showers available.

Aroha Island comprises 7 hectares of mangroves and a 5 hectare island at Rangitane. A causeway links the island to the mainland, providing convenient vehicle access.

Kerikeri is only 12km away and the beautiful Bay of Islands is just beyond that.

Aroha is managed by Aroha Island Charitable Trust and is owned by Queen Elizabeth II National Trust.

  • This is a brilliant place to stay. It is clean, quiet, and with lots of shade. It is very well run. The kids had an amazing time seeing the wildlife, especially the kiwis. 5

  • This is our favourite place in the whole of NZ! Quiet, secluded away from real life. Surrounded by nature. It's amazing to have the chance to see kiwis in the wild and this place is so we'll set up. Close enough to to keri keri for supplies. Well kept basic facilities. Eco friendly. The kyacks are a great addition for an afternoons cruising. Thanks aroah for never disappointing is 5
