Aroha Island is on Kerikeri inlet and offers beachside and bush camping, 2 bush cottages and a 3 bedroom holiday house, within a 12-hectare natural environment.
A unique eco experience awaits you at our secluded, peaceful and tranquil island.
The campsite is sheltered and close to the native bush, home to our resident North Island Brown Kiwi. You can enjoy the pace of island life at your leisure, explore the island on our bush walk and learn more about watch the shore and bush birds that inhabitat the island - you may even have the chance to see a kiwi in the wild.
We have a mix of powered (10 sites in the top bush campground) and non powered sites. BBQs, gas cookers, kitchen facilities, fridge/freezer. You need to bring your own crockery, cutlery, pots etc.
Hot showers available for $1 for 5 minutes.
Aroha Island comprises 7 hectares of mangroves and a 5-hectare island at Rangitane. A causeway links the island to the mainland, providing convenient vehicle access.
Kerikeri is only 12km away and the beautiful Bay of Islands is just beyond that.
Our check-in time is between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Please let us know if you expect to arrive outside these hours. Because of the fragile nature of this environment, he gate is closed between dusk and 7am - access can be arranged with us outside these hours.
Aroha is managed by Aroha Island Charitable Trust and is owned by Queen Elizabeth II National Trust.
