  • The place does itself no favours. Its outside appearance and lobby and customer service were well below standard. Had we not already paid and had no time to find somewhere else we wouldn't have stayed. However, the room was tidy, clean, and exactly what we had asked for in bed configuration. The shower was dated but ok, however the toilet in the family room was unpleasant. Staff could not locate our payment and charged us for towels when they were supplied with the room. It was extremely noisy. The elevator is scary. Would not be likely to stay again. 1

  • I arrived at the lodge with some other family including my 2 children who were tired after a day's travelling. I had the booking confirmatiion for a 6 bed self contained unit with me, yet the room had been booked for someone else. The girl behind the counter was lovely and did not get stressed despite a long line forming behind us. She found us an alternative which took a while to get sorted but was better than what she initially offered. They appear to have overbooked a few people that day and i did wonder if that was done intentionally to fill up the other place. I was miffed my booking did not appear to have come through on trivago (or so they said) but i was happy with the service they provided. . 1

  • Bed was a bit basic but adequate. I was allowed to park for 2 full days when staying for 1 night - a real plus for wellington. Staff friendly and helpful although initially i was charged at check-in when i had paid on booking. When i discovered this it was quickly repaid without fuss and quick apology given. Good stay for the price. 5

  • The double bunk room was clean and tidy. The bathroom space however, were old, tired and scungy! guests were extremely noisy in adjoining rooms. Staff were friendly and location is nice for access to city, but very noisy. We only stayed for 2 of the 3 booked (and paid for) nights. Probably will not be staying there again. . 1

  • Its me again for the second time, i have to say i stayed longer this time, i enjoyed my stay, some things were different than before, but overall the experience was great. Parking was a little hard to sort out but well there is only a few spaces so lets not quibble. Over all a big thumbs up, cheap (affordable for me) and the family loved it, also we got the same room again, relaxing, we are heading down there again in november and i have been told to get ready to book more rooms this time. I still recommend staying at the lodge, great experience, so close to everything. However, i am very late with this review, so sorry about that. **** from me. 5

  • I was very happy to stay in this place, the price was great ($100 for six people to stay in one room) the beds were warm, sturdy and clean, the bathroom was clean, lol we had to put the toilet seat back on so we could sit on it but that was ok, great staff, hope they found our pile of towels and sheets that we left in the bath room. We had a throughly nice time there, and guys you got to expect stuff with older buildings. I honestly had a great time, $100 for a night whats wrong with that? you get what you pay for guys! i would reccomend lodge in the city to any of my friends and family, some of us are planning to stay again at some stage. 5

  • Bit of a mixed bag in that the price we got it at was very good ($100 for 6 sleeping in self-contained unit) also the staff were very friendly and helpful. On the flipside like previous comments they didn't seem ready for us and had not cleaned our room that day. The room was tight but for the price reasonable. This place is a backpackers which generally means it's not suitable for families and is really just a place to shower and sleep at. The room was a bit grotty and the bathroom had broken taps and smelt quite bad. I was quite looking forward to being able to have a drink at the 'bar' that was advertised on the website only to be disappointed to find there was none. Overall good location, good price but hygiene and comfort was poor. 6/10 and will stay again with a bunch of mates because of the price and location. 1

  • Very disappointing, got there late in the afternoon, staff very friendly, but seems unprepared for us, asked how many people were staying, told us to pay again, although we booked and paid upfront. Then when we got to the room, it was very small, double bed with single bunk, not a double bed and single bed as advertised. There was not even enough space to put all our bags, and the room was scruffy, although the bedding was clean - holes in the door etc. My 72 year old father with a bad back was expected to sleep on the top of the bunk! he slept with my husband on the bed, i slept on the floor. The bathroom was a nightmare!! no further comment required. The other guests were extremely noisy. I will not be seen there again, and i suggest if you are thinking of staying there, contact them directly and make sure you are getting what is advertised!!. 1

  • Do not take kids.. We got to self contained unit.. Filthy, mince splattered throughout microwave, open can of pasta sauce in fridge and stunk! toilet door didnt close, bathroom was horrible! broken window repaired by slapping a piece of glass over top of hole which leaked when it rained! light wires hanging above beds (kids bunks). Had to carry 2 20kg bags a pram a 2yr old 2 back packs n a 6yr old down 3 flights of stairs because lifts are faulty!... I could go on and on! but staff are awsome.. Not for the family stay but if you want to join young tourists drinking all night this is your place!. 1
