Barcelona accommodation

General info

Barcelona is a city of beauty and wonder. With a culture all of its own (it is the capital of autonomous Catalonia) this is a city of contradictions.

It is young and dynamic, yet steeped in ancient history; it’s incredibly European yet the multi-cultural vibrancy is all around. Fall in love with the architecture, food, culture, art and beaches!

Things you must see & do

For something different jump on a tour with Fat Bike Tour company. They will take you through the city on bike for a unique glimpse into this incredible place.

Take in the otherworldly creations at the vast Park Guell. Experience Dali, Hemingway, Picasso and Gaudi by having a drink at Bar Marsella – it has been going since 1820!

You cannot go to Barcelona without a visit to La Rambla, one of the world’s most famous boulevards; selling just about everything from caged birds, to the huge Boqueria food market. Eat at Inopia – this is one of the greatest tapas bars.

Insider tips

It is important to keep your wits about you while you’re strolling along the boulevards and fascinating side streets. With 3 million visitors a year, Barcelona can become crowded, so keep your hand on your wallet and valuables at all times.

Restaurants tend to be bountiful in some parts of the city and few and far between in others. Locals flock to Barceloneta for tapas and fish based dishes. If you’re on a budget small bars on the Avinguda del Parallel serve decent food that won’t break the bank.

Gracia, north of the city centre, is great for quirky shops, cheap, tasty eats and budget accommodation.
