Honolulu accommodation

General info

With picturesque coastlines and magnificent scenery, Hawaii is a world class holiday destination. Comprised of eight major islands, there is a no bad time to visit any one of them in this subtropical paradise.

Things you must see & do

Oahu is hands down the most well-known island, being home to the capital city Honolulu. Here you’ll find Waikiki Beach and the North Shore, both well known for their excellent sand and surf.
Also worth a visit is the USS Arizona, a memorial to the victims of Pearl Harbor.

The Big Island is home to the largest active volcano on earth, Mauna Loa which is the perfect spot to explore on a day trip. You can’t pass up sampling macadamias and coffee while in Hawaii, as both are world-renowned exports from the islands.

Insider tips

For the best value and full range of activity options while on the islands, it’s best to wait and book everything once you arrive. Many resorts offer cruises and snorkelling, among other things, at a reduced rate to their guests.

If you’re trying to avoid the rain, stick to the leeward (south and west) sides of the Hawaiian islands.

Hawaiian ‘aloha’ shirts are acceptable wear for men anywhere from the beach to business to a fine dining restaurant.

Try to get along to a traditional luau feast, usually held at the main resort hotels. Traditional island cuisine such as kalua pig, lomi salmon and poi (taro) is served usually accompanied by Hawaiian music, hula and other local entertainment.
