Singapore is a city that is constantly changing. Home to the mythical Merlion, and also the world’s highest infinity pool, Singapore has a lot on offer.
Things you must see & do
Eating out in Singapore gives you two options: High end restaurants run by celebrity chefs, or easy on the wallet, heavy on flavour hawker food. There is no acceptable excuse to not try Haianese chicken rice and chilli crab when in Singapore. The more adventurous should also get their hands on some durian fruit, or even give Bone Marrow Soup a go.
Spend a week at Sentosa Island and Universal Studios, and you won’t have run out of things to do.
On the mainland, make sure that you visit Orchard Road for some extreme shopping.
The world famous Raffles Hotel is also the birthplace of the Singapore Sling cocktail. Not having one of these would be like going to India and not seeing the Taj Mahal.
When you first arrive in Singapore, you will need to make your way into the city from Changi Airport. Take the train into the city for a tenth of the price of a taxi. It is fast, safe, and air conditioned (something that you will never take for granted again after visiting Singapore).
Bring your togs, as Singapore has heaps of pools and they’re usually 50m long. There are also beaches not too far away. Shopping is a popular national pastime in Singapore as you’ll see by the huge number of malls. You won’t find anything at rock-bottom prices, but the prices are not too bad.
