We stayed in a tree lodge. The room was nicely appointed and the bush setting is lovely. However for $220 a night we expected more tranquility. The walls are horribly thin, such that snoaring from the opposite unit kept us up. Even just normal conversation passes through the walls. Disappointing for the price.our room was pleasant but both nights we had noisy neighbours who kept us awake.rainforest retreat conjures up peace and quietness for me but everyday a bus load of backpackers would turn up and at 2.00 am we were woken up with sceaming and yelling.on our last night the fire siren went off just after we had hopped into bed-the worrying thing was there didn`t seem to be any procedures in place - the bar manager had to turn it off as the office was closed.

The Rainforest Retreat is aptly named. It is a beautiful setting. The staff are great. The restaurant was good. Even though my room wasn't very large, it was one of the best rooms I've had. By far my favourite place I've stayed so far in New Zealand.

Pretty small ensuite double units. Have most things you need though, TV, shelves, fridge, albeit a small basin. Would have said it was ok, but it could be noisy. Not recomended for older people but younger can love it.

We enjoyed our accomodation. We cooked in the backpackers kitchen and met interesting people from many countries

We found it very nice and relaxing after a long days drive ( especially the spa pool ) and it was central for walking around.
