We don’t pretend to be a Northland holiday resort, but our aim is to make sure you have a great Far North camping experience (and we provide a lot of the facilities resorts boast about!).

Regardless whether you’ve got a campervan, a motorhome, a family tent, a backpackers tent, or if you’re wanting to stay in a cabin we can probably look after you. Whether you’re wanting just an overnight stop as you tour the North, or if you want to get into some of the country’s best fishing, or if you’re just looking for a 'get away from it all’ time in a beautiful environment we know you’ll enjoy your stay with us and no matter how long you stay we’re sure that when you leave you’ll be wishing you had more time!

Situated on the harbour entrance we have powered and non-powered, caravan, motorhome and tent sites, secluded or harbour view sites, a pet friendly area set aside for campers with pets, and cabins with fabulous views of the Houhora harbour entrance. If you’re looking for budget accommodation in Northland and particularly the Far North, then you should check out our holiday park, book today.

  • When they say this camp ground is one of the top 3 "classic" sites in NZ...."classic" must mean basic and rustic!! Enjoyed our stay but thought it was really rude to have to pay to use the pool on top of our campsite charge. 3

  • Thank you for your feedback, it is good to hear you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you did not enjoy the "classic" feeling of our back to basics kiwi camping experience. We do offer hot water showers and basic kitchen facilities which makes it more comfortable for campers who dont want to bring all their own equipment. We try to keep our rates lower than most by charging for the pool as an extra item, rather than higher rates to cover pool costs, as not everyone wants to use the pool. Kindest regards, Camp Management

  • Nice place but not impressed with kitchen and bathroom facilities which are badly designed and not up to so many people staying there. Men toilet and bathrooms are a joke. 1

  • Thanks for taking the time to post a review Eileen but in fairness I feel I need to respond to this review which I believe is unduly harsh. I accept that the facilities are under stress during the 2 weeks of the Christmas/New Year peak but we never claim to be a 5 star camping ground. There is one of those no too far away but if you stayed there you would pay almost as much as you paid for your 3 nights at our camp for just one night's stay. Again in fairness we clearly state in our website that "there is a small communal kitchen" and "The camp kitchen is only small and basic and not designed for the peak period however it has what most people need - a fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave and two 2-burner gas hobs". We believe that the facilities are more than adequate for 50 of the 52 weeks in the year and do try to make potential clients aware that there could be overloading in the short peak period. I found your comments disappointing ... not the least because generally our reviews are very positive in fact on the independent review site rankers (www.rankers.co.nz) we are averaging 9/10 from 33 reviews. Please feel free to contact me directly at wagenerpark@xtra.co.nz for further discussion about your concerns (especially your comments about the men's toilets) which I do take seriously ... we are committed to try and ensure that everyone who stays with us has a positive experience and rely on customer feedback to make appropriate improvements where we can. Thanks again
