Luxury e-bike hire and shuttle operator on both the Dunstan Trail and Wanaka Trails.

nzbiketrails provides shuttles and bike hire experiences to guests who are visiting Wanaka, Queenstown, Cromwell and Clyde.

We run a brand new fleet of Specialized Rockhopper Elite Regular bikes and Sinch e-bikes (the latter being a brand recommend by NZ's Consumer Organisation) and our transport is a luxury Mercedes Sprinter.

We host guests on some of the best one-day trails in New Zealand including:

1. The recently opened Dunstan Trail (May 2021). Hiring e-bikes on the 42km Trail that runs along Lake Dunstan between Cromwell and Clyde. This trail is a feat of engineering including 450m of trail 'clipped onto' the mountainside, the Hugo Suspension Bridge, Carrick Winery and even a Coffee & Burger Bar served off a boat along the trail. We even have an option for a boat return up the lake  - a 1 hour experience that takes you up close to the goldminers hut, pickaxe and suspension bridge - with luxury shuttles to get you to the boat. You can either meet nzbiketrails in Cromwell (45mins drive from both Wanaka and Queenstown) or be shuttled in from Wanaka. Please note that we only hire e-bikes on this trail for Safety reasons. With no road access for the last 25km you can choose the level of assistance that you require - you can even ride them in 'Off' mode if you are a keen and regular rider.

2.  The Wanaka and Hawea Trails - Grade 1 to 2 family friendly. 30km of riding on either hired bikes or e-bikes. nzbiketrails shuttles you out to Hawea to cycle back along the Hawea and Clutha rivers to Wanaka. This is one of the most scenic and beautiful rides in the South Island. With approximately 3 hours riding you have plenty of time to visit Lake Hawea, Albert Town, Pembroke Patisserie and Wanaka along the way.

These 2 rides make a fantastic 2-3 day trip, based out of Wanaka, for those companies wanting to pull together a short-break package or ensure that a 5* rated company hosts their guests to the highest standards as part of a larger tour.

We will also rent out bikes for individuals under the age of 18 years, as part of a group, providing that the rider is with another party who is over the age of 18 and accepts responsibility for the younger rider. This person is deemed to be the person who is booking the trip.

You, and your party, acknowledge that you are participating in an activity that involves risks that are beyond nzbiketrails control and using a bike involves inherent risks to you, other persons and the equipment being used by both parties. These risks also include - but are not limited to - inclement weather, rough riding conditions, illness, navigational difficulties, collisions and accidents all of which may occur in isolated areas. These risks also include your ability to control a bike whilst riding within your own capabilities and taking the appropriate actions to reduce risks. nzbiketrails reserves the right to withdraw any person from the activity who it believes, or judges, to be danger to themselves or others on the trails.

To the extent permitted by law you hereby release, waive, discharge, hold blameless and indemnify nzbiketrails and all persons entities and contractors connected to nzbiketrails from any and all liability for death, disability, personal injury (including mental injury), property damage, property theft, loss of personal equipment and all other foreseeable risks, claims or actions of any kind (including negligence) whatever and however occurring which may arise, at any time, from or in connection with, directly or indirectly, as a consequence of you carrying out these activities. If you have chosen to contract with nzbiketrails for bike hire then you are liable for damage caused to any bike hired while using or in charge of the bike. We expect that bikes will experience general wear and tear and are very accepting of this. This does not extend to broken components or frame where the user has had an accident, has been negligent or purposefully damaged the bicycle. In all cases you agree to accept responsibility and pay for the repair of damaged or broken items, noting that we will only pass on the wholesale cost (inc GST) of the component plus any labour.

Your obligations

You will make all reasonable effort to meet the shuttles and transport for an on-time departure. If you are unable to meet the transport on-time then this may create additional costs for yourselves.

You must obey New Zealand Road rules on your ride. It is compulsory to wear a helmet in New Zealand when cycling. A helmet cannot protect you if it is hanging off a handlebar. Your safety is our number one priority – no helmet, no ride and no refunds and we may have to withdraw your hire for this reason. nzbiketrails uses very high-quality Specialized Camber helmets (with MIP’s protection) that are available in small, medium and large.

Once the bike is in your possession, you are responsible for the bike and equipment. You must lock the bike every time it is out of your sight.

Please support our team members throughout your safety discussions. These are important to ensure that you safely enjoy your ride.

You are responsible and liable for the repair or replacement costs of the cycle and equipment that is not the result of fair wear and tear.

You acknowledge that you are physically fit enough and that there is no health or other reason why you should not use participate in this activity.

nzbiketrails are responsible for delivering your experience as described. We pride ourselves on not only the quality of our equipment and resources but also on our team members who will support you on your experience.

nzbiketrails will endeavour to provide you and your party with the requested type of bikes. From time to time this may not be possible and we will provide an alternative suitable bike.

nzbiketrails will only provide well-maintained bikes that are deemed to be excellent bikes for the trails that you are riding.

Our team members may take photos of our riders for safety, identification and memento reasons. We will always try and share these images with the member of your group who has booked the ride as a memory of the occasion and can be requested from nzbiketrails if not sent. We may also use these images in the course of our normal business. This includes, but is not limited to, on the nzbiketrails website and in marketing. At no point will these images be connected with the names of the participants by nzbiketrails. We welcome riders posting images on their nzbiketrails experience as part of a review or social media post #nzbiketrails

nzbiketrails, in the event of regional or national lockdowns will either transfer your ride date, issue you a gift card to use with another rider or refund the recoverable costs of booking. This obligation will be covered by our principle of ‘doing the right’ thing.

All pricing is in New Zealand Dollars and are inclusive of any Goods and Services Tax (GST) unless stated.

Your safety is our number one priority. We reserve the right to cancel any hire or experience where we believe that the weather or trail conditions could result in a significant risk to your safety. On these rare occasions we would offer an alternative experience on the same day ie another trail, a transfer to an alternative date or a full refund.

Please note: Under normal conditions it may rain or even be ridiculously sunny! Please make sure that you bring appropriate clothing and protection for your ride. We provide rear rack bags on all bikes for you to be able to hold enough clothing and personal effects to be able to enjoy a one-day ride through most normal weather conditions.

If you choose to cancel your experience within 7 days of departure, there will be no refund however we are happy to work with you to transfer your ride to another day or issue you with a gift card for you to use for another rider.
