With Rotorua Canopy Tours, you’ll zipline into Ōkoheriki (Dansey Road Scenic Reserve), a rare ancient New Zealand forest just minutes from Rotorua. This isn’t any old forest - this is a unique piece of natural history with 1,000-year-old rimu and tawa trees, fern-filled gullies, and birdsong returning to the valley.

Our courses are built for flow, immersion and one-of-a-kind features you won’t find anywhere else in Aotearoa. Walk across swaying suspension bridges high over a forest valley. Climb a floating staircase that rises five storeys through the canopy. Spiral around an ancient tawa on a bespoke staircase. Then traverse New Zealand’s only volcanic cliff walkway, suspended 50 metres above the valley with views that switch your senses back on. And of course - ziplines. Lots of them, and they’re epic!
What truly sets us apart is purpose. Every guest funds active predator control that protects this forest - hundreds of traps, thousands of hours, and birdsong roaring back. You don’t just visit conservation; you power it. Guides share the story as you go, and you can hear the difference.
Safety sits at the core. After a clear briefing, you’re on a continuous belay whenever you’re at height, with a guide in front and another behind you between platforms. Tours run in most weather because the forest is magic in sun or rain. We provide top-of-the-line wet-weather gear and warm layers so you stay comfortable.
